The school year is over , the children don’t have to rush in the morning to get ready, so now what?! Summer vacation is here but the warmth and the sun is not. We are freezing and we can’t play in the backyard because it’s all muddy from all the rain. We could go to the museum, the aquarium and have some fun but It costs too much and the credit cards are maxed out! So I stopped procrastinating for a minute and I try to think of different ways to have fun, go places, and do things without spending my children piggy banks’ money!
First, I plan when and for how long my children will have to do there summer worksheets. That is a must, because I do not want them to go back to school and not remember how to spell or count!
Then, we can have fun. We can go for bike rides, go to the playground, go to the lake,go fly a kite and have playdates.
One thing that is really fun is to set up a camping trip in your backyard. It’s safe, it’s very exciting for the children and It’s economical. Just set it up with the tent, the sleeping bags, the lantern, and talkie walkies (my kids’s favorites)and all the treats that comes with it.

The backyard
When you are on a budget, the waterpark and the community pool can be a burden on your wallet. Investing in a on the ground pool is a good idea because they have fun and the pool is there. When summer is over it’s very easy to take it down and store it for next summer.
Nature walk is very relaxing and also it’s a good quality time for the family. Just take plenty of water, some snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and some bandages for little scratches!
When It’s a rainy day,I let them bake or cook something. They love it. Then they also have fun clean up the utensils they used by filling up the sink and putting a ton of dishwashing liquid. The kitchen ends up pretty wet but they really enjoy it.

The Construction Site
We have a corner in the backyard that we call “the construction site” My kids can dig, build, and do whatever their imagination take them. They have pieces of woods , my husband smoothed the edges, plumbing tubes, shovels and buckets. Even in hot summer days they transform it in a mud bath!
